Our Mission
Our mission with the PictureThis! series of vocabulary and language learning resources is to provide high-quality educational materials to support language learning. We believe that all students deserve access to the best possible opportunities to achieve academic success.
How it all started...
While serving our customers, we discovered the lack of effective support for multilingual learners during language instruction and testing. They needed a bilingual picture dictionary with key features such as:
* photographic representations,
* with word-to-word translations in direct proximity, and
* presented entries in alphabetical order.
This led us to the creation of the PictureThis! Series.
After consulting with educators and linguists, translators and reviewers, we curated the appropriate word lists and best recognized word choices across the Americas and beyond.
The PictureThis! Dictionary can be used as an assessment accommodation for qualifying ELL students during testing, and as a resource for comprehension.
Supporting teaching and learning of vocabulary and dictionary skills led to further development of the resources now available in the
PictureThis! Primary Vocabulary Resource Kits.
This is a a teacher and student resource that builds academic language and facilitates English language development.
Our customers want to use the PictureThis! Dictionary with young and older newcomer students. The need for appropriate accompanying activities for older students emerged.
The new PictureThis! Vocabulary Resource Kit: Secondary
Will be released in 2024!
Our Products
The PictureThis! Dictionary is available in multiple languages, and we offer appropriate instructional materials that develop language and fluency through interactive student learning.
We work to ensure the instructional materials and student tools meet the educational standards and provide innovative ways to engage students with relevance to impact their learning progress.
